Issue 20th October 2014
The last stamp issue in 2014 starts with two stamps in a new series that pays homage to the importance of hunting for the Greenlandic culture and identity. Ivalo Abelsen has painted the first two designs in the series, which will end in 2015.
One new stamp in the series ‘Greenlandic Aviation’ is issued on the same day. Once again the aviation design has been created by the legendary engraver Martin Mörck.
Jointly with New Zealand Post, we issue a stamp in complete sheets and in souvenir sheets. The souvenir sheet from both postal services may also be purchased in a beautiful souvenir folder with the theme ‘From Pole to Pole’. The stamp is TELE-POST’s first round stamp, after having exclusively issued square stamps since 1938.
Martin Mörck has also drawn and engraved the twelfth and last part of the series about important Greenlandic expeditions. Jørgen Brønlund’s, Niels Peter Høgh Hagen’s and Ludvig Mylius-Erichsen’s participation in the fabled Danish Expedition 1906-1908 is honored on these stamps, which will be issued in both complete sheets and a souvenir sheet.
Lisbeth Karline is the lady artist who has created the Christmas stamp-images that celebrate the popular televised Christmas transmission: “Christmas Greetings from Greenland”.
Finally the 2014 stamp year is closed with the Year Pack, in which all the Greenlandic stamps and souvenir sheets are included.
