31st January
Greenlandic plants is the title of this year’s first new series. Buuti Pedersen is the female artist who drew all the designs in this series. We are starting with two attractive plant reproductions and look forward to continuing the series in the coming years.
The famous SIRIUS Patrol was established in 1950 to
enforce the kingdom’s sovereignty in Northeast Greenland. We are marking the 75th anniversary of the patrol with an impressive stamp illustrated by Miki Jacobsen.
The additional value stamp issue for 2025 will benefit Greenland’s Council of Gender Equality NALI. In keeping with tradition, this type of stamp is also issued in a souvenir sheet with four reproductions of the additional value stamp and in a stylish souvenir folder containing one copy of the souvenir sheet. Kristine Spore Kreutzmann has illustrated the designs.
The Greenlandic dog sled series continues with two new stamps created by Konrad Nuka Godtfredsen. This time the series focuses on the East Greenlandic sled.
7th April and 26th May
Qaqortoq has been in existence for 250 years. The town’s anniversary is being celebrated, among others things, with a beautiful stamp created by Bolatta Silis-Høegh, who was born and raised in this charming town in South Greenland. The stamp will be issued on 7th April, the actual day of the anniversary.
National archaeological discoveries is the theme of PostEurope’s EUROPA series in 2025. Maya Sialuk Jacobsen has very graciously completed this assignment with two beautifully illustrated designs, which are also issued in a stamp booklet printed on self-adhesive paper. The issue date is 26th May.
Architecture is the common theme of the Sepac series this year. Naja Rosing-Asvid, architect and artist, has very creatively interpreted the theme. The Sepac collaboration also includes a joint souvenir folder featuring the member countries’ Sepac stamps from the year. This folder will be issued in September. The stamp will be issued on 26th May.
In January 2024, Frederik X succeeded to the throne after his mother, Margrethe II, chose to abdicate. The definitive series bearing the King’s portrait will be launched on 26th May to coincide with his 57th birthday. Steen Brogaard has taken the portrait photo, while Martin Mörck has created the engraving. The series will run for several years with new denominations and colours, as is customary with our definitive series.
28th July, as well as the 4th to 24th September
Jens Rosing, the Grand Old Man of Greenlandic stamps, was born 100 years ago on 28th July. At the time of his death in 2008, he was the foremost illustrator of Greenlandic stamps. He still is to date. We are paying tribute to Jens Rosing’s exceptional stamp art with a commemorative stamp, a souvenir sheet, a black print, a souvenir folder and a prestige booklet. All of these will be issued on the centenary of his birth, 28th July.
Ittoqqortoormiit celebrates its centenary on 4th September.
This anniversary will be observed with a superb stamp by the deceased artist Pia Arke, who was born in this East Greenlandic town.
6th September marks 100 years since the establishment of telecommunications in Greenland. This event was marked with a telegram sent from Qaqortoq to King Christian X. As Greenland’s national telecommunications company, we are proud that Tusass Greenland can celebrate its centenary with two magnificent stamps designed by Martin Brandt Hansen. They are also being issued as a souvenir sheet.
We are issuing our first embroidered stamp on 21st September. As part of the Dove of Peace project, several European postal services are each issuing an embroidered stamp with the same dove of peace design. Liechtenstein- based Hämmerle & Vogel has created the project concept. The stamp comes in an attractive folder which, in addition to the stamp, includes a narrative of the Dove of Peace and its global message of peace.
Ethnographic photos from Greenland is the title of the third new series this year. Ina Rosing is the female artist who shall draw the entire series, which launches with two exceptional stamps printed on self-adhesive paper. This set of stamps will be issued on 24th September.
The West Nordic Council comprises the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland. This year marks 40 years since the council was established. Maria Panínguak’ Kjærulff has illustrated the stunning stamp design that marks this anniversary. This stamp will also be issued on 24th September.
7th November
Lisbeth Karline has created two new designs in the series Everyday Heroes in Greenland. The identity of the heroes will not be revealed until the actual stamp issue.
International Inuit Day is an observance created to celebrate the Inuit people and amplify their voices. This year celebrates 20 years since the introduction of this observance in the Arctic. Hari Arnaq Kristoffersen has illustrated the beautiful design for the stamp.
This year’s Christmas stamps are designed by Nikolaj Andersen Olsvig. This is the second time this established visual artist is trying his hand at stamp art. The Christmas stamps are also issued in a stamp booklet printed on self-adhesive paper.
The theme of this year’s set of four franking labels is once again animal designs. The Snowy Owl is the theme.
The Year Pack comprising one copy of the year’s stamps and souvenir sheets rounds off the stamp year for 2025.
