The dates of issue are:

14th January

  • We are starting on 14th January with a commemorative stamp in honour of the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty the Queens’s reign. The stamp is printed in combined laser engraving and offset and issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps, a beautiful souvenir sheet and a stylish souvenir folder. Renowned Martin Mörck has created both the engraving, drawing and composition, based on a photograph by court photographer Steen Brogaard.

5th February

  • We will have yet another royal issue on Saturday 5th February. Crown Princess Mary turns 50 years old that day. We are marking this occasion with a beautiful stamp printed in offset. Stine Heilmann has photographed the Crown Princess in Greenlandic national costume. The stamp, designed by Robert Dam, is quite stunning. It is issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps, an attractive souvenir sheet and a beautiful souvenir folder.

28th February

  • On 28th February we will issue two more stamps in the series ‘School Savings Coupons in Greenland’. Once again, graphic designer Nina Spore Kreutzmann has created two delightful stamps that reproduce some of the historic savings coupons from 1957 which were designed by Alex Secher. Both stamps are printed in offset and will be issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps.

31st May

  • ‘Ghost stories in Greenland’ is another ongoing series which is set to continue here in 2022. Both designs are taken from the acclaimed literary work ’Bestiarium Groenlandica’ published a few years ago. Accordingly, two young artists are getting their welldeserved stamp debuts.
  • The theme of this year’s Sepac series is locally produced beverages. The small European postal services’ stamp series thus continues to provide insight into common themes to the 13 member states of this philatelic collaboration. Greenland’s 2022 Sepac stamp is printed in offset and will be issued on 31st May in full sheets of 10 identical stamps. In keeping with tradition, a joint Sepac souvenir folder will be issued in September.
  • Martin Mörck’s superb series about fish in Greenlandic waters concludes on 31st May with exceptionally beautiful illustrations of the Glacier Lanternfish and Polar Cod. The stamps will be issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps and in an attractive souvenir sheet containing both stamps. These stamps are also printed in offset.
  • Another series, ‘Environment in Greenland’, also concludes on the same date. The environment and climate are playing an increasingly significant role in the Arctic as well as elsewhere. Paarma Olsvig Brandt is the female artist who has created the two outstanding designs on the stamps. They are printed in offset and each issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps.

8th August

  • On 8th August, Upernavik can celebrate the town’s 250th anniversary. The multiartist Jessie Kleemann, who was born in this charming North Greenlandic town, has created the beautiful design for this commemorative stamp, which is printed in offset and issued in full sheets of 10 stamps.

31st August

  • Greenlandic tattoo art has its roots in Inuit culture. In recent years Greenlandic tattoos have been experiencing a renaissance, especially among young people, who use the tattoos as cultural markers. Visual and tattoo artist Paninnguaq Lind Jensen kicks off the series on 31st August with two striking stamps. They are printed in offset and each issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps and in an attractive souvenir sheet.
  • The theme for this year’s EUROPA stamps is stories and myths, an ideal theme for Greenland. The world-famous Aka Høegh has designed the two stamps, which will be printed in offset and will also be issued on 31st August in full sheets of 10 stamps.
  • This year is the UN’s international year of Artisanal fishing and Aquaculture. We are marking this occasion with a creatively designed stamp by multi-artist Miki Jacobsen. Printed in offset, the stamp will be issued on 31st August in full sheets of 10 identical stamps.

11th November

  • The second part of the series ’Street Art in Greenland’ will continue on 11th November. This year’s three stamps in the series exemplify this form of modern visual art in public spaces of South Greenland. Once again the emphasis is on young artists, as it was when we launched the series last year. The two stamps in offset printing are issued in their respective full sheets printed on self-adhesive paper.
  • The Greenlandic feature films series concludes on the same day with reproductions of the captivating film posters of two award-winning films from 2009 and 2010 respectively. Both stamps are printed in offset and issued in full sheets of 10 identical stamps. The stamps will be issued on 11th November.
  • This year’s two Greenlandic Christmas stamps have been designed by an artist who has not previously created stamps. Consequently, the artist is making a long-awaited stamp debut. True to tradition, the two Christmas stamps will be issued in their respective full sheets of 10 stamps and in a stamp booklet printed on self-adhesive paper. These stamps will also be issued on 11th November.

As always, the stamp year is rounded off with the Year Pack, which will comprise all 24 stamps and four souvenir sheets from 2022. The 2022 Year Pack will be issued on 11th November.
