Old Greenlandic banknotes II 1/2


At the beginning of the twentieth century, Kongelige Grønlandske Handel, KGH (Royal Greenland Trading) used special banknotes. These were printed in stone presses and were valid currency in Greenland’s trading posts.

The stamps, which reproduce the bank note designs, are printed in combined offset and laser etching and are issued as full sheets and as souvenir sheets. The series began last year with two stamps reproducing banknotes issued in 1911. The series is now continuing with another two postage stamps reproducing banknotes from the same year. As the series continues over the next couple of years, old Greenlandic banknotes from later in the twentieth century will be presented on stamps.
